2001 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: You should start the Brake Booster replacement by taking out the washer solvent reservoir plus disconnecting the brake fluid sensor's electrical connector. Unthread the nuts securing the master cylinder then disconnect it from the Brake Booster by sliding the master cylinder forward. Keep the brake pipes from bending by moving the master cylinder just enough to pass over the booster studs unharmed. Take the Brake Booster vacuum check valve off its connector and put the hose and check valve aside. Unbolt the left panel then lower and fasten the Steering Column before taking out the vacuum Brake Booster Pushrod retainer and foam spacer from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. First remove Brake Pedal packing nuts to disconnect the Pushrod from the Brake Pedal. Then take out the vacuum Brake Booster by freeing it from vehicle studs. When needed you must uninstall the Brake Booster mounting gasket. When reinstalling fit the Brake Booster mounting gasket back onto its place before placing the Brake Booster in its proper position. Begin by fastening the Brake Pedal to booster mounting nuts using 23 nm torque. Afterwards, put the Steering Column into position and apply a minimal amount of lubricant gm p/n 12346293 onto the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Fasten the Brake Booster Pushrod into the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Place a foam spacer and retaining clip on the clevis pin then put back the left closeout panel. Insert the master cylinder onto the booster followed by vacuum check valve installation andconnector linking to sensor as conclusion.
