2001 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The cooling system requires drainage before starting the Heater Core replacement process. The j 38185 (Hose Clamp Remover/Installer) removes heater hose clamps before detachable heater hoses from the Heater Core. The console assembly and auxiliary air distribution duct need to come out first. The first step requires removal of the hvac module heatshield cover for the Heater Core followed by the air filter access panel. You can access the Heater Core after removing the cover by first unscrewing all the Heater Core cover screws then gently lowering the cover down. First remove all retaining screws and straps securing the Heater Core and proceed to extract the Heater Core unit. The new Heater Core installation requires placement within the hvac module where retaining straps and screws should be used to hold it in position before tightening to 1.5 n.m (18 lb in). Fasten the Heater Core cover by tightening its screws to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in). The procedure requires attaching the air filter access cover's screws to 1.4 n.m (12 lb in) torque followed by Heater Core heat shield cover installation and then connecting the auxiliary air distribution duct and console assembly. Reconnect the heater hoses through the use of the j 38185 (Hose Clamp Remover/Installer) before completing the cooling system filling process.
