Heater Core

The first step for replacing the heater core includes draining the cooling system. The Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) should be used to undo plumber clamps before detaching heater hoses from the heater core assembly. Begin by taking off the console assembly before proceeding with the removal of the auxiliary air distribution duct. You must first detach the air filter access cover and the HVAC module assembly heat shield cover. Climb behind the heater core to remove it after first unscrewing its cover screws and properly lowering the cover. Roll off the retaining screws and straps from the heater core to take it out. Install the new heater core within the HVAC module by using retaining straps and screws which should be tightened to 1.5 N.m (18 lb in). Install the heater core cover while securing its attaching screws at 1.4 N.m (12 lb in). Reinstall the air filter access cover by tightening its screws to 1.4 N.m (12 lb in). Then attach the heater core heat shield cover followed by auxiliary air distribution duct and console assembly. The Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) enables installation of heater hoses then the cooling system needs filling up.

Draining the cooling system must be done before Heater Core replacement. Anglers can remove heater hoses from the Heater Core using the heater hose clamp tool (J 37097-A). Begin by taking out the auxiliary Blower Motor assembly and proceeding to the Heater Core cover screws plus the Heater Core retaining screws . After that, extract the Heater Core retaining straps along with the Heater Core itself and Heater Core case seals. You must remove first both Heater Core retaining straps and the Heater Core assembly, Heater Core case seals. The installation process requires placement of the new Heater Core then installation of the Heater Core retaining straps along with new Heater Core case seals. Put the retaining screws of the Heater Core into place before securing them with 1.4 n.m (13 lb in) torque. Fasten the Heater Core cover screws while tightening them to 1.4 n.m (13 lb in). The auxiliary Blower Motor assembly can be restored before connecting the heater hoses to the Heater Core through the use of the j 37097-a heater hose clamp tool. Finally, fill the cooling system.

Replacement of the Heater Core begins with disconnecting the heater hoses from their attachment points to the core and continuing with instrument panel removal and heat shield separation. The first step requires you to remove Heater Core cover fasteners as well as the Heater Core retaining fasteners and after that you must remove Heater Core retaining straps and finally the Heater Core itself. Proceed also to uninstall the Heater Core case seals. The installation process begins by putting the new Heater Core into position followed by securing the Heater Core retaining straps together with fitting the new Heater Core case seals. The Heater Core installation process requires first securing it with retaining fasteners and cover fasteners before reattaching the heat shield and instrument panel assembly. You should complete heating hose installation to the Heater Core.

Use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) to remove the heater hose clamps and then detach the heater hoses.

First, drain the cooling system.

Use the Hose Clamp Remover/Installer (J 37097-A) to remove the heater hose clamps and then detach the heater hoses.

Take off the heater core heat shield cover from the HVAC module, followed by the air filter access cover.

Torque them to 1.4 N.m (13 lb in).

Reinstall the auxiliary blower motor assembly.

Use the Heater Hose Clamp Tool (J 37097-A) to disconnect the heater hoses.

Use the J 39400 Halogen Leak Detector.

Remove the heater core retaining straps and the heater core itself, along with the heater core case seals.

Reinstall the heat shield and instrument panel assembly.

Place the heater core back in position.

Install the heat shield.
