  A: The first procedure when replacing a Fuel Pressure Regulator should be to release the fuel pressure. Fitting a shop towel beneath the Fuel Pressure Regulator during removal will absorb fuel that may leak. Before removal of the Fuel Pressure Regulator you should detach its atmospheric vent hose followed by removing the clamp bolt at the regulator position for later reinstallation. Tighten the clamp after spreading it off the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Then carefully push the regulator out from the Fuel Rail. After obtaining new fuel pressure regulators the technician should apply small amounts of clean engine oil to o-rings. First bring the atmospheric vent to its original location before rotating the regulator while it enters the Fuel Rail until it achieves completion. Fasten the Fuel Pressure Regulator clamp bolt until it reaches a torque specification of 5 n.m (44 lb in). Reinstall the negative Battery Cable as you reconnect the atmospheric hose to its regulator port. Start the Fuel Pump with the scan tool to pressurize the system before verifying fuel leaks then reinstall the intake plenum.
