How to replace the steering wheel on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

Before replacing the steering wheel, you need completely disable the SIR system. Unscrew the Inflatable restraint Steering Wheel Module and disconnect Safety steering wheel electrical connector. Subsequently, unbolt the steering wheel retaining nut. Utilize the Steering Wheel Puller Legs (J 42578) and Steering Wheel Puller (J 1859-A) to take off the steering wheel, then disconnect these apparatus from the steering wheel. In installation, rout the wiring through the steering wheel and align the splines on the steering wheel with the splines on the shaft before installation of the steering wheel to the steering column upper shaft. Tighten the steering wheel retaining nut to 41N M (30 ft. lbs.), reconnect steering wheel electrical connector, install Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module and finally, enable the SIR system.
