How to service and repair the clutch disc on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?

Service and repair operations for clutch discs require the transmission's removal first. After loosening the clutch cover bolts in measured increments to decrease spring tension you can remove both the clutch cover and the Clutch Disc. When installing the clutch system you should position the Flywheel assembly's heavy side with marked 'x' toward the painted 'light' side of the clutch housing. Support the clutch cover assembly to the Flywheel using the clutch alignment arbor (J29074). Start by installing the clutch cover bolts to the Flywheel until they reach 20 nm torque (16 ft. Lbs.) then continue twisting them 45 degrees before achieving final tightening values. Once completed remove the clutch alignment arbor (J29074) then lubricate the bearing's interior with gm p/n 12345777 or suitable equivalent followed by transmission reinstallation of the system and hydraulic bleeding and Battery Cable negative connection.
