    Q:
How to service and repair the pressure plate on Chevrolet Cavalier? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Pressure Plate servicing requires transmission detachment before proceeding. First you should rotate the clutch cover bolts by one turn to reduce the spring pressure then you can remove the clutch cover and Clutch Disc. The clutch alignment arbor (J 29074) enables users to align the heavy Flywheel assembly marked with an x to the light clutch cover which receives paint markings. You should install the j 29074 between the Flywheel assembly and clutch cover to support them. Insert the clutch cover to Flywheel bolts using the sequence provided for 20 nm (16 ft. Lbs.) torque before you turn them 45 degrees followed by complete specification wrench torque. Before finally removing the j 29074 support implement users must apply gm p/n 12345777 bearing lubricant, or equivalent, inside the bearing diameter. You should finish the installation by adding the transmission then bled out the hydraulic components before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
