2001 Chevrolet Corvette Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Before replacing the Clutch Master Cylinder, the negative Battery Cable should be disconnected. Do away with the lh i/p lower insulator panel, the Clutch Master Cylinder rod retainer, and the Clutch Master Cylinder rod from the clutch pedal. Then, take off the windshield washer solvent container and lift the vehicle to an appropriate height. Remove the clamp on the hose attaching the clutch actuator cylinder located at the back of the engine. With the hydraulic clutch line separator (J 36221) ready, release the white circular release ring (to be found at the actor hose) by pulling the (lock) the master cylinder hose carefully ensuring both the hoses end ends be protected from dirt and damages. Lower the vehicle while keeping it on the hoist, and then remove the Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir push-in fasteners. Loosen the Clutch Master Cylinder 45 degrees clockwise and remove it from the dash panel along with the reservoir from the car. When it comes to installation, place the new Clutch Master Cylinder and reservoir, aligning the master cylinder 45 degrees before placing it into the dash panel and turning it clockwise to lock in position without over-rotation. Replace the Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir push-in fasteners and windshield washer solvent container. Lift the vehicle up and attach the clutch actuator cylinder hose to that of the Clutch Master Cylinder hose on a secure quick connect fitting connection. Orient the clutch hydraulic hoses to ensure there are no twists or kinks involved and reinstall the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the hose retaining clip in the rear of the engine. Drop the vehicle, attach the Clutch Master Cylinder rod to the clutch pedal and attach with the rod retainer. Reattach the lh i/p lower insulator panel and hook up the negative Battery Cable, tighten the bolt to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Finally; program the transmitters and bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
