2001 Chevrolet Corvette Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Start the clutch actuator cylinder replacement by disconnecting the vehicle's negative Battery Cable. Begin by removing the lh i/p lower insulator panel then disconnect the clutch master cylinder rod retainer along with the clutch master cylinder rod from the clutch pedal. Lift the vehicle before using suitable supporting methods. Extract the clutch actuator cylinder hose through the hose retaining clip located at the engine's back end. Using the hydraulic clutch line separator (J 36221) gently separate the actuator hose from the master cylinder hose while holding down the white circular release ring on the actuator hose end. Protect both hose ends before disconnecting them. The workspace begins by taking out the driveline support assembly with transaxle before proceeding to uninstall clutch actuator cylinder mounting bolts followed by removing the cylinder from the driveline support assembly. The clutch actuator cylinder should be placed onto the driveline support assembly before securing the actuator cylinder mounting bolts at 12 nm torque (106 inch lbs.). Position the driveline support assembly and transaxle back to the vehicle before connecting the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the clutch master cylinder hose through properly engaged quick connect fittings. Examine all hydraulic hoses for curve deformities while installing the clutch actuator cylinder hose to its retaining clip near the vehicle engine rear. First lower the vehicle before installing the clutch master cylinder rod through the clutch pedal while using the clutch master cylinder rod retainer to secure it. Reinstall the lh i/p lower insulator panel while reconnecting the negative Battery Cable by tightening the bolt to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). You must complete transmitter programming as your final step along with bleeding the clutch hydraulic system.
