• Q: How to service and repair the Brake Master Cylinder on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: Place the Brake Master Cylinder's mounting flange into a bench vise to work at its back end while fixing or repairing it. Put the master cylinder ports on suitable fittings that match the needed flare seat for hoses to attach. Take off the master cylinder reservoir cap and diaphragm during setup. Connect clear hoses to both ports and position them directly into the master cylinder reservoir. Soak both ends of the hoses into the delco supreme 11 or dot-3 equivalent fluid (Part No. 12377967) to fill the Brake Master Cylinder reservoir until reaching the midpoint. Depress and release the primary Piston using a round tool while watching the fluid come out of its ports. When bleeding air from both pistons you will feel firm pressure and a shorter Piston movement. Keep bleeding until the fluid runs out smoothly without air trapped in the ports. Put the transparent hoses back into the reservoir then place the master cylinder parts then remove each hose fitting before withdrawing the master cylinder from the vise while keeping it covered with a clean cloth.
