2001 Chevrolet Venture Neutral Safety Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Neutral Safety Switch on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Begin the pnp switch replacement by putting on the parking brake and wheel blocking and placing the transmission into neutral. Use a flat-bladed tool to disconnect the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the cable lever after removing the throttle body air inlet duct. Start by disconnecting electrical connectors followed by automatic transaxle range selector lever removal before removing pnp switch bolts and the pnp switch itself. The park/neutral switch alignment tool (J 41545) helps position the shift shaft in neutral because new pnp switches come in this position while preventing any rotational movement. Use the park/neutral switch alignment tool to position the shift shaft flats properly before inserting the pnp switch on the transaxle according to fastener notice in service precautions. Secure the pnp switch with bolts tightened to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.)you should install the automatic transaxle range selector lever and electrical connectors first before adding the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Check the engine starts only in park or neutral position by making needed adjustments before reattaching the throttle body duct alongside wheel block removal and parking brake release.
