2001 Chevrolet Venture Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the tie rod end on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
A: In order to service and fix the Tie Rod End, work with j24319-b (Universal Steering Linkage Puller) to disconnect the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle after removing tie rod ball stud nut. Do not use a pickle fork or wedge type tool to prevent seal or bushing damage. Next, relax the tie rod jam nut and remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod. For the installation, you need to attach the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod without tightening the jam nut, and then attach the outer tie rod to the Steering Knuckle. Make sure the fastener is rust-free and clean and that it reaches 2 nm (18 inch lbs.) of torque before it seats against the mate. Otherwise, replace the fastener. Finally, place on the tie rod ball stud nut and tighten it to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) plus 120 degrees (2 flat surfaces) ensuring that 2.5-4.5 tie rod ends threads are visible through the tie rod nut nylon, and check and adjust toe as needed.
