2001 GMC Savana 3500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front coolant reservoir on 2001 GMC Savana 3500?
A: Start the Coolant Reservoir replacement by draining some engine coolant from the system. Begin the replacement by taking out the overflow hose from the Coolant Reservoir top and continuing with the inlet hoses starting with the Radiator top and then the Coolant Reservoir before ending with the outlet hose from the Coolant Reservoir bottom. Before installation disconnect the coolant level sensor electrical connector and remove the Coolant Reservoir retaining bolt. The completed Coolant Reservoir removal must follow removal from its connection points with the cowl tabs while extracting it from the vehicle. The Coolant Reservoir requires cleaning with soap before receiving a water wash with clean water. Secure the Coolant Reservoir by positioning it back onto the cowl tabs before tightening the retaining bolt to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). Connect the coolant level sensor electrical connector while you install the outlet hose at the Coolant Reservoir base. After that, attach the inlet hose to the Radiator and the Coolant Reservoir. Finally, connect the overflow hose to the top of the Coolant Reservoir. Connect the overflow hose to the Coolant Reservoir's top opening while filling it with coolant to its correct operating level.
