- Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2002 Buick Century?A: The process begins by removing the HVAC module assembly combined with all attached outer seals. Under the next step detach the recirculation housing from the HVAC module assembly then remove its retaining clip for the defroster actuator before taking out the actuator itself. Unscrew the upper screws of the HVAC module assembly case before you detach it. Start by removing the seal from the lower module case and then extract the evaporator core plus attached water core filter from its location. The water core filter should be attached to the evaporator first followed by installing new side, upper and two lower seals that need to be placed on the evaporator core. Install the HVAC module assembly seal to the lower module case then position the evaporator core inside the lower case. Place the guide correctly then attach both upper and lower HVAC module assembly case while tightening screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). After installing the defroster actuator it is necessary to put back the recirculation housing followed by screw installation before tightening all screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) while completing the HVAC module assembly installation.
