The first step for evaporator core replacement is to remove the HVAC module assembly with every outer seal. First detach the recirculation housing from the HVAC module assembly before you release the retaining clip for the defroster actuator to remove the actuator. The next step requires removal of upper screws that secure the HVAC module assembly case which can be separated thereafter. A technician must remove the HVAC module assembly seal from the lower module case then extract both the evaporator core and water core filter from the evaporator unit. Consumers must apply refrigerant oil to the system according to its capacity specifications during new evaporator installation. The water core filter needs installation onto the evaporator which must be accompanied by new side seals accompanied by upper and two lower seals for the evaporator core. Attach the HVAC module assembly seal to the lower module case while inserting the evaporator core inside the case. The guide should be aligned before securing the upper and lower HVAC module assembly case through upper screws tightened to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). Fasten the defroster actuator before connecting the recirculation housing to the HVAC module assembly through screws that need tightening to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). The final task requires reinstallation of the HVAC module assembly.
