2002 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the side impact Air Bag Sensor on 2002 Buick Park Avenue?
A: To replace the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS), disable the SIR system fist. Move the seat to the full forward position and remove the center pillar trim panel. Prevent the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from coming off the SIS harness connector and remove the harness connector from the SIS. Remove the SIS mounting fasteners and pull the SIS out from the center pillar sheetmetal. When installing the new SIS, handle it professionally so as to avoid any strikes or jolts. Clean mounting surface, install SIS, and fasten all fasteners to torque value of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reconnect the SIS harness connector and the CPA is installed. Lastly, reset the center pillar trim, bring back the seat to its original position, and re-activate the SIR system.
