2001 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: You need to first make sure the Ignition Switch is off before disabling the sir system so the air bags won't deploy when replacing the sis. Pull the seat all the way forward and take off the center pillar trim panel. Take the cpa off the sis harness connector , and then separate the sis harness connector from the sis . Take out the mounting fasteners and take the sis away from the center pillar sheetmetal. Make sure you handle the new sis carefully during installation so it is not struck or jolted. Thoroughly clean the area where the sis or sism will fit, put it in place, and secure every fastener to a torque of 9 n.m (80 lb in). Place the sis into the center pillar sheetmetal and secure it with the fasteners afterward. Connect the sis harness connector to the sis and then put the connector position assurance (CPA) on the harness connector . Now, fit the center pillar trim back to place, move the seat back to where it was, and turn on the sir system.
