2002 Buick Park Avenue Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Address Issues with the Alternator on 2002 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Before performing Alternator maintenance start by disconnecting the battery negative cable and removing both the Drive Belt and the fuel injector sight shield. Remove the generator brace by first taking out its fasteners. Plug off the generator's wire harness connector then move the protective boot from the generator bat terminal to access it. Finally detach the generator bat terminal nut to release the battery positive lead from generator output. Start by removing the generator's mounting bolts and pull the generator completely from the vehicle body. Place the generator onto the engine before installing generator mounting bolts which need a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). After attaching the wiring harness connector to the generator, tighten the generator output bat terminal nut to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in) while securing the positive lead. After applying the protective boot to the generator's output bat terminal users must install the generator brace and fasteners before securing the generator brace nut to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and generator brace bolt to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Reassemble both the fuel injector sight shield together with the Drive Belt and reconnect the battery negative cable.
