2001 Buick Park Avenue Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the alternator (L67) on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Begin generator (L67) replacement by disconnecting the battery negative cable. Pull the Drive Belt first before you uninstall the fuel injector sight shield. The generator brace fasteners need removal before removing the brace itself. The generator wiring harness connector needs disconnecting before positioning the protective boot off the generator output bat terminal for access to remove the generator output bat terminal nut which disconnects the battery positive lead from the generator. Take out the generator from your vehicle by first removing the mounting bolts. The generator installation requires placement on top of the engine followed by careful tightening of the generator mounting bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Follow these steps to connect the wiring harness connector to the generator then fasten the positive lead with the generator output bat terminal nut while tightening to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in). Install the protective boot onto the generator output bat terminal before you mount the generator brace and fasteners with 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque on the generator brace nut and 30 n.m (22 lb ft) torque on the brace bolt. As the last step install the fuel injector sight shield and then the Drive Belt before reconnecting the battery negative cable.
