2001 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: To replace the Starter motor, the battery negative cable should be disconnected and then raise and support the vehicle. Lift off the torque converter cover and the transaxle cooler line clip from the transaxle. Remove the battery positive cable from the Starter and the wire from the solenoid "s" terminal on the Starter. Take out the 2 Starter motor mounting bolts and you will remove the Starter motor. To install, position the Starter motor back into place and replace the Starter motor mounting bolts by tightening them to 43 n.m (32 lb ft). The battery positive should be connected to the Starter by tightening an n.m 10 (89 lb in) nut and the Starter motor s-terminal wire then should be connected to the Starter motor s-terminal nut and should be tightened to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). You may then install the torque converter cover, the transaxle oil cooler clip, lower the vehicle, and then tie the battery negative cable back.
