2002 Cadillac Eldorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: Before replacing the Radiator one must drain the cooling system while removing the electric cooling fans. People should disconnect both Radiator inlet and outlet hoses from the Radiator together with Engine Oil Cooler inlet pipe if their car has it. Start by removing the front air deflector followed by depressions of outlet pipe tabs for removal of the Engine Oil Cooler outlet pipe. Drop the vehicle then take off both the upper and lower transaxle oil cooler pipe fittings which connect to the Radiator. After disassembling upper Radiator support screws you must lift the Radiator out of the vehicle by hand. Place the Radiator into the vehicle before tightening the upper Radiator support screws to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). The lower transaxle oil cooler pipe fitting must connect to the Radiator with horizontal orientation followed by torque installation to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Then install the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe fitting by ensuring vertical positioning and performing the same torque specification. Support the vehicle when it is raised and guide the Engine Oil Cooler outlet pipe under the a/c compressor hose before fully inserting it into the quick connect fitting until you hear a clicking sound followed by a gentle tug test for adequate connection. Order the front air deflector then lower the vehicle before installing the Engine Oil Cooler inlet pipe to the Radiator using a 10-degree angle position with 18 nm torque (13 ft. Lbs). Install the Radiator outlet hose as well as inlet hose onto the Radiator while installing electric cooling fans before filling the cooling system and verifying engine oil levels along with transmission oil.
