Cadillac Eldorado Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the radiator on Cadillac Eldorado?
A: The Radiator replacement starts with a complete cooling system drain followed by electric cooling fans removal. You need to detach the Radiator inlet hose and outlet hose from the Radiator before disconnecting the engine oil cooler inlet pipe which may be present on the Radiator. The front air deflector needs removal before continuing with removal of the engine oil cooler outlet pipe through tab depression that triggers pull-out movement. Lower the vehicle to access the Radiator and take off two transaxle oil cooler pipe fittings above and below the Radiator. To extract the Radiator from the vehicle you must first remove the screws on the upper Radiator support then lift the Radiator upward while extracting it from its position. Placing the Radiator inside the vehicle requires installing the upper Radiator support screws and tightening them to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). Position and tighten the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe fitting at 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) while maintaining it horizontal before aligning and tightening the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe fit to a vertical position at 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Support the vehicle in a raised position thereby guiding the engine oil cooler outlet pipe underneath the a/c compressor hose before fully inserting it into the engine oil cooler quick connect fitting until it clicks as you verify proper retention through gentle force. Utillize the front air deflector next before lowering the vehicle but also attach the engine oil cooler inlet pipe to the Radiator only when necessary using a 10-degree orientation with 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) of torque. The Radiator receives both the outlet hose and inlet hose then the electric cooling fans are installed before filling the cooling system and checking the engine oil level.
