• Q: How to service the Denso SC1 (KG9) alternator on 2002 Cadillac Seville?

  A: Start the denso sc1 (KG9) generator service by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery first followed by removing the Drive Belt and engine cooling fans. Disconnect the wiring harness connector to access the generator bat terminal while moving the protective boot aside. First disconnect the positive lead from the generator output bat terminal by removing its terminal nut. The procedure for removing the generator from the vehicle includes first loosening the lower bolt then removing the two generator bolts before extraction. Position the generator at the A/C Compressor and engine before installing generator mounting bolts (1, 2) with a torque setting of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator followed by connecting the positive battery lead to install the generator output bat terminal nut while tightening it to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in). After installing the protective boot on the generator output bat terminal replace engine cooling fans and Drive Belt before resetting the battery negative cable.
