• Q: How to replace the brake pads on 2002 Chevrolet Astro?

  A: To replace the brake pads, one must first check the fluid level at the brake master cylinder reservoir; in case the level is above midway between maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, remove brake fluid up to the midway level. Lift and support the vehicle, and then take off the tire and wheel assembly. As for a4wd, install and hand tighten a wheel lug nut to hold rotor. Use a large c-clamp to compress the front caliper Piston, placing it over the housing against the back of the outboard pad so that it forces the Piston to go just far enough into the caliper bore to slide the caliper off the rotor before removing the c-clamp.
