2002 Chevrolet Camaro Steering Wheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering wheel on 2002 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: Begin steering wheel replacement by removing the SIR module from the steering wheel first. Before beginning disassembly you need to remove both the steering wheel retaining nut and the horn ground lead connection. Steering Wheel Puller (J 1859-A) and Steering Wheel Puller Bolts (J 38720) require careful application to prevent damaging the SIR coil by allowing the bolts to pass entirely through the steering wheel hub. Use the J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller with J 38720 Bolts to uninstall the steering wheel before you extract the steering wheel horn switch. To install the SIR coil electrical connector follow a path to the steering wheel before inserting the steering wheel horn switch. You should install the steering wheel followed by horn ground lead reconnection. Secure the steering wheel retaining nut with a torque of 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). Set up the SIR module on the steering wheel as the final step.
