Raising vehicle on a hoist is the first thing one needs to do to replace the Rack And Pinion on a vehicle with an automatic transmission. Remove the lower pinch bolt of the intermediate shaft, and then remove the front suspension crossmember. Then, unbolt the three mounting bolts of the Rack And Pinion and separate it from the front suspension crossmember. Attach the Rack And Pinion to the front suspension crossmember, being sure to follow the fastener notice for safety guidelines. Mount and tighten the 3 Rack And Pinion mounting bolts to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.). Replace the front suspension crossmember and the lower pinch bolt onto the intermediate shaft. Lower the car, bleed the power steering system, and align the front wheels.
