2002 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2002 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: In order to replace the Starter motor, you first disconnect the negative Battery Cable and then lift the vehicle. Lower the machine to allow room at the front. Disconnect the lower close out panel, and remove the Starter's electrical connections. Disconnect the flywheel inspection shield. Unscrew the bolts that connect the Starter motor to the engine, and take down the Starter unit. For fix, place the Starter and bolt it to the engine with bolts. Tighten down to a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reattach the flywheel inspection shield and lead to the Starter; the cable to solenoid nut should be tighter to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Finally, reinstall the lower closeout panel, lower the vehicle, and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
