  A: The first step for replacing the automatic transmission range selector cable requires placing the vehicle in park position then lifting the transmission. Cable end of the range selector must be disconnected from the transmission range selector lever ball stud before removing the retainer from the range selector cable. First detach the range selector cable from the bracket through its retainer on the floor panel and then do the same for 4wd vehicles by removing the retainers on the Transfer Case.
