Start by taking out the lower Control Arm and holding it securely with a vice before the replacement. You need to remove rivet heads by drilling or grinding the ball stud before hitting the rivets with a hammer and drift punch to take the ball stud off the lower Control Arm. Put the ball stud into the lower Control Arm but position its bolts downward and away from the ball stud. The fastener and its partner must be clean from rust before installing with proper torque measurements because failure to do so requires new parts. After that install the new ball stud nuts and fasten them at 50 ft. Lbs. Before putting back the lower Control Arm.
