You should start the rear door body side molding replacement on the Aztek by first opening the rear door to remove screws from the molding's rear edge. A heat gun (J 25070) will make the removal process easier. A plastic flat-bladed tool should be used to separate the molding's upper edge from the surface before pulling it free to remove the retainers and extract the molding from the door. You need to drill one tiny hole through each retainer pin on both lower support retainers and rear support retainers before putting tiny screws inside each hole. Use small pliers to eliminate the center pins then extract both the lower and rear supports from the door. Use 3M(TM) ScotchBrite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or similar to clean the rear door panel before using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha to let the surface dry naturally. To install the retainers begin by aligning the lower support retainer notch downward then use a small hammer to insert its center pins before doing the same for the rear support retainer. Repeat heater gun (J 25070) application and position the new molding's lower flange while keeping contact off the adhesive layer. Extending the top section of the molding to the door panel requires direct pressure on the retainer clips until every retainer becomes fully seated. Use hand pressure to create strong bonds on the molding before driving the screws behind it to 6 N.m (53 lb in) torque and then shut the door.
