- Q: How to Replace the Lift Gate Emblem on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?A: Apply tape to the surface to protect it before installing the replacement nameplate on the Rendezvous lift gate by setting its position marks. Warm the emblem/nameplate with the J 25070 (Heat Gun) at 152 mm (6 in) for 30 seconds by circling the tip in a smooth motion. Use a plastic flat tool to carefully extract the emblem/nameplate from its position. Use 3M P/N 07501 Scotch Brite disks to take off adhesive from body panels while VMP naphtha or water and alcohol mixture on a lint-free cloth works for plastic parts. Use both pieces to clean and dry the emblem installation space. Place tape on the surface when you do not know its exact installation area. Install CX and CXL emblems/nameplates at 19.05 mm from the lift gate bottom molding top edge and 53.975 mm from the right edge side to the lift gate. Set the VERSATRAK AWD emblem/nameplate 58.750 mm (2.313 inches) towards the left edge of the lift gate with a 19.05 mm (0.750 inch) distance from the top of the lift gate lower molding. Set the J 25070 heat gun to heat the surface to 27-41°C (80-105°F) and the emblem/nameplate area to 29-32°C (85-90°F). Peel off the protective liner without touching the adhesive and line up the emblem/nameplate with its marks on the area. Use pressure to make direct contact while positioning the piece before you take off the protective tape.
