• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2003 Buick Rendezvous?

  A: You need to drain the engine coolant from the cooling system in order to change the upper Intake Manifold. Replace the Throttle Body air inlet duct, and remove the accelerator control and cruise control cables with bracket from the Throttle Body. Remove the trust position (Tp) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve wiring harness connectors, then remove the left engine-side Spark Plug Wires and their harness attachment clip. Next to disconnect Throttle Body heater hoses; the vacuum hoses from evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve 3.e-, remove the evap canister purge solenoid valve. Take out the ignition coil bracket, pull off the wiring harness from the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor and pull the vacuum harness of the MAP Sensor along with the top Intake Manifold. Also, remove the emission control vacuum harness and the vacuum brake booster hose from the upper Intake Manifold and the hvac vacuum source hose and the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Pry off the heat shield, then pull off the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve gasket, the MAP Sensor and bracket. Remove the generator through bolt bracket. Take off the upper Intake Manifold studs and bolts, then remove the upper Intake Manifold. If the upper side of the Intake Manifold is requiring replacement, the following steps are undertaken; remove the Throttle Body and upper Intake Manifold gasket, clean and inspect the upper Intake Manifold. For installation, should be taken off, throttle body, and the upper Intake Manifold gasket, which then should be followed by upper Intake Manifold. Mount the MAP Sensor and its bracket and make sure to tighten the upper Intake Manifold studs and bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the generator through bolt bracket and the valve of the egr next, then install vacuum hose data to the upper part of the Intake Manifold, including the vale of the heater and air-conditioning as well as a vale of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Attach the vacuum brake booster hose to the upper Intake Manifold, and attach and connect the emission control vacuum harness, and attach the vacuum hose to MAP Sensor and the upper Intake Manifold. Reconnect the wiring harness onto the MAP Sensor, refurbish the ignition coil bracket with the coils, and reinstall the evap canister purge solenoid valve with its vacuum hoses. Connect the Throttle Body heater hoses, engine left side spark plug wire harness attachment clip, and the engine left side Spark Plug Wires. Lastly, attach the wiring harness connectors to the Throttle Body and install the accelerator control and cruise control cables with bracket to the Throttle Body then reinstall the Throttle Body air inlet duct before you fill the engine cooling system with engine coolant.
