• Q: How to replace the front air bag sensor on 2003 Cadillac Escalade?

  A: First, disable the SIR system in order to replace the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Do not hit or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor and make sure it is well attached prior to applying power to avoid SIR deployment or personal injury. The procedure below is for the left sensor and the same for right sensor. Start by removing the wire harness and then extract the connector position assurance (CPA) from the connector. Then, unscrew the sensor retaining bolt, and pull out the sensor and bolt assembly off the vehicle. Clean out the dirt, grease, and other impurities from the mounting region; make sure that the arrow on the SDM faces towards the front of the vehicle. Mount the sensor assembly and the bolt assembly horizontally to the side of the radiator support and tighten the bolt 9 N.m( 79 lb in). Connect the wire connector to the sensor; install the CPA; and finally, turn on the SIR system.
