2003 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Begin by turning off the ignition and disconnecting the ebcm harness connector before starting bpmv replacement. Locate the bpmv pump motor ground wire then disconnect all brake pipes starting from the master cylinder to bpmv (1, 2) and extending to front Brake Calipers and rear Brake Calipers while noting cord positions. You need to detach the brake fluid pressure sensor electrical connector before you remove two insulator nuts. Start by removing the combined unit of ebcm/bpmv while also removing the ebcm insulator bolt and the four bolts connecting ebcm to bpmv. Separate the ebcm from the bpmv with care while removing the seal for potential reuse in good condition. The installer must wait to remove the shipping plugs from outlets until completing bpmv installation. Clean the bpmv sealing surface with an alcohol-soaked clean rag before placing the seal when its condition permits reuse. Install the ebcm to the bpmv and tighten the mounting bolts in the following sequence: first pass to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.) the first torque application should be 3 nm (27 inch lbs.) followed by a second torque to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). First tighten the ebcm/bpmv insulator mounting bolt to 14 nm (10 ft. Lbs.) and then the bolt at 14 nm (10 ft. Lbs. Place the EBCM/BPMV unit into its bracket and screw on the two insulator nuts before tightening them to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.). The brake fluid pressure sensor electrical connector gets connected during installation of brake pipes from rear Brake Calipers (1, 2) to bpmv using the same locations as removal while tightening fittings to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Rephrase the process for fitting brake pipes which originates from front Brake Calipers (1, 2) and master cylinder (1, 2), using 16-nm (12 ft. Lbs.) torque. Before finishing closure of the bpmv pump motor ground and the ebcm harness connector verify that both connection points fit together correctly with the lever fully engaged. Turn the ignition switch to on state without starting before you fill and bleed the hydraulic brake system and do the automated bleed procedure followed by diagnostic system check - abs.
