The first step for valve Rocker Arm and push rod replacement includes removing the valve Rocker Arm cover followed by unscrewing the bolts from the Rocker Arm and discarding them. The first step involves taking away both valve rocker arms and pushrods. Application of prelube gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 990404) or an equivalent product needs to be applied as a coating to ends of push rods and Rocker Arm friction surfaces before installation. The length of intake valve push rods measures 144 mm (5.68 inch) but exhaust valve push rods require 152.5 mm (6.0 inch). Fit the push rods into their previous slots before applying Camshaft and lifter prelube gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or an equal product onto the Rocker Arm friction surfaces. Reinstall the new valve Rocker Arm bolts then tighten each one to 32 nm (24 ft. Lbs.) before installing the valve Rocker Arm cover.
