2003 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2003 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Engine coolant drainage from the cooling system should be the first step before upper Intake Manifold replacement. Start by removing the Throttle Body air inlet duct before disconnecting the combination of accelerator control and cruise control cables along with their bracket from the Throttle Body. First disconnect wiring harness connectors for throttle position (TP) sensor and idle air control (IAC) valve before removing engine left Spark Plug Wires and their holding clip. Every Throttle Body heater hose and vacuum hose needs to be disconnected from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve before removing the evap canister purge solenoid valve. Detach the ignition coil bracket and take off the wiring harness from the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor before removing the vacuum harness from the MAP Sensor and the upper Intake Manifold. The emission control vacuum harness and vacuum brake booster hose together with all upper Intake Manifold vacuum hose connections including hvac vacuum source hose and Fuel Pressure Regulator must be disconnected before removal. Start by removing the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and MAP Sensor and bracket before proceeding to take out the upper Intake Manifold studs and bolts. Replacements of the Intake Manifold first demand removal of both the Throttle Body and upper Intake Manifold gasket before cleaning and inspecting the upper Intake Manifold for use. After removing the Throttle Body reinstall the Throttle Body followed by placing the upper Intake Manifold gasket and upper Intake Manifold into position. After installing the MAP Sensor and its bracket you must attach upper Intake Manifold studs and bolts before reinstalling the EGR Valve. Install the heater and air conditioning vacuum source hose and Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum connections and vacuum brake booster hose at the upper Intake Manifold locations. Begin by connecting the emission control vacuum harness and installing the vacuum hose from MAP Sensor to upper Intake Manifold. Then connect the wiring harness to MAP Sensor before finishing installation of all harnesses and hoses. Install the ignition coil bracket and the evap canister purge solenoid valve before you attach the vacuum hoses to the evap canister purge solenoid valve. First connect the Throttle Body heater hoses then the engine left side spark plug wire harness attachment clip and its corresponding wires. The Throttle Body requires several final procedures including font installation of wiring harness connectors as well as placement of the accelerator control and cruise control cables with bracket to the Throttle Body and finally the reinstallation of the Throttle Body air inlet duct before completing the coolant fill-up.
