2003 GMC Envoy Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2003 GMC Envoy?
A: To recover the air conditioning condenser, one should first recover the refrigerant and thereafter remove the compressor discharge hose nut and the compressor discharge hose from the condenser. Next one has to remove the Hood Latch, head lamp housing panel and radiator diagonal brace, followed by the bolts from the upper radiator support and the upper radiator support. Take off with a spanner the evaporator tube nut and the evaporator tube from the condenser, as well as the studs of the condenser inlet and outlets. Unglue the condenser lh upper bracket bolt and bracket, and take out the condenser from the radiator. In installing the new condenser, add refrigerant oil to it and then install it to the radiator and fasten with use of condenser to radiator bolts which have to be tightened to 9 nm (80 lb in). Then, install the condenser lh upper bracket bolt and bracket and tighten it up to 9 nm (80 lb in), and then install the studs to condenser inlet and outlet that must be tightened up to 4.5 nm (40 lb in). Secure the evaporator tube while using the evaporator tube nut and fastened the nut a further 28 nm (21 lb ft). Now reinstall the upper radiator support bar and the bolts with 50 nm (37 lb ft), reinstall the radiator diagonal brace, head lamp housing panel, and Hood Latch back. Couple the compressor discharge hose to the condenser and secure it by tightening the compressor discharge hose nut to 16 nm (12 lb ft). Lastly; evacuate and recharge the a/c system and conduct a leak test to the fittings of the components using j 39400-a.
