Check for tab breakage on the bearing adapter assembly and examine the Steering Shaft for sheared plastic areas. Shaft replacement is necessary in case of either of these conditions. The Steering Shaft must be measured with a dial indicator at its lower end to check Steering Shaft runout during wheel rotation until the measurement reaches 1.60 mm (0.06 inch) maximum.
