Installation of a power steering pressure pipe/hose requires use of a drain pan and power steering pressure hose removal at the Power Steering Pump. The first task should be to lift and stabilize the vehicle before eliminating the power steering gear heat shield and fascia extension panel. To proceed remove the retaining nut on the power steering pressure hose bracket at the Cylinder Head. After that disconnect the hose from the frame bracket and power steering gear before removing the hose from the vehicle. During installation the new power steering pressure hose needs to be mounted to the vehicle while being connected at the frame bracket while following the fastener notice in service precautions. Begin with the hose installation at the power steering gear while tightening it to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) then finish with the power steering pressure hose bracket and retaining nut installation at the Cylinder Head under 9 nm (80 in. Lbs.). The technician must reinstall both the fascia extension panel and the power steering gear heat shield before lowering the vehicle and correctly fastening the power steering pressure hose to the Power Steering Pump using 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). The last step involves removing the drain pan followed by power steering system bleeding.
