2004 Cadillac Seville Flywheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the flex plate and replace the engine flywheel on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: The transaxle assembly needs removal as a first step for servicing the flex plate along with replacing the engine Flywheel while avoiding the reuse of Flywheel bolts. First eliminate the 8 mounting bolts before proceeding with the removal of the Flywheel together with the reinforcement. Engine Flywheel inspection must come prior to its placement on the Crankshaft with the reinforcement piece. Sealant gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent needs to be applied to the new Flywheel mounting bolts. The installation procedure requires new mounting bolts which need initial tightening to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) then the j 45059 angle meter (J 45059) should finalize the tightening at 50 degrees. Finally, reinstall the transaxle assembly.
