2004 Cadillac Seville Radiator fan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator fan on 2004 Cadillac Seville?
A: A replacement of an electric Radiator Fan starts by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery while also draining the cooling system fluids. You should start by taking off the air deflector along with the engine oil cooler pipe retaining bolt and retainer from the Fan Shroud before lowering the vehicle. Start by removing the hood latch support and headlamps before separating the Radiator connections of lower and upper engine oil cooler pipes to set them aside. The hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) should be used to detach and extract the inlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator which needs placement over the engine. Take out the air cleaner assembly and the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retaining bolt which is present on the Fan Shroud. You should use the cooler quick connect tool (J41623-B) to safely detach the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fitting from the Radiator when the plastic cap is removed. When completed with the hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) extract the outlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator before you disconnect the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe from the Radiator. The mounting bolts for the Radiator brackets along with brackets need removal. Lift the Radiator/a/c condenser assembly from the lower Radiator support pads before you can remove the Fan Shroud by tilting the top forward. First disconnect all wiring harness electrical connectors from Radiator Fan motors after removing the harness clips fixed to the Fan Shroud then loose the a/c discharge hose retaining clip. Locate and remove the bolt systems from both electric Radiator fans while avoiding damage to the brackets connecting to the lower parts. The Radiator Fan assembly requires removal by directing it to face right then gently elevating the right side before moving to the left side for an upward pull that will free the assembly. The Radiator Fan assembly installation process begins by positioning it behind the Radiator followed by left-side movement and right-side push down until proper alignment of lower Fan Shroud feet with Radiator mounting tabs. Flange the electric Radiator Fan mounting bolts on both sides and secure them to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). The a/c discharge hose retaining clip needs connection along with reinstallation of the Radiator Fan motors' wiring harness electrical connectors followed by fastening the wiring harness retaining clips to the Fan Shroud. Secure the Radiator/a/c assembly under the lower Radiator support pads then install the brackets before tightening their bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Adjust the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe properly upwards before tightening it to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). The hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) should be used to install the outlet Radiator Hose onto the Radiator before pushing the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe into the Radiator quick connect fitting until you hear a clicking sound indicates proper lock mechanism. You should slide the plastic cap over the quick connect joint followed by installation of the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retaining bolt to the Fan Shroud while tightening it to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). The air cleaner assembly goes in place after the connection of the inlet Radiator Hose through the hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) to the Radiator while both upper and lower engine oil cooler pipes are attached to the Radiator and tightened up to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Fill the cooling system then connect the battery negative cable while checking the engine oil level after you finish installing the headlamps, hood latch support, engine oil cooler pipe retaining clip and bolt to the Fan Shroud with a torque of 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) before installing the air deflector. Lower the vehicle.
