2004 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2004 Cadillac SRX?
A: To replace the engine front cover follow starts by getting the necessary tools such as the en 46109 engine front cover installation guide pins (EN 46109). Start by removing the engine cover and then upper Intake Manifold with the lower Intake Manifold and, finally, the camshaft covers. Remove the engine coolant and pull the purge vent hose off from the water outlet. Unscrew the water outlet as well as the Radiator Hose, make sure that they are kept off. Then remove the accessory drive belts, then remove the A/C Compressor and power steering belt tensioner. Remove with the generator bracket and the generator with the belt tensioner without disconnecting the power steering pipes from draining the power steering liquids. Move the position of the power steering fluid reservoir in order to access the Power Steering Pump pulley and then get rid of it, after which to take away the upper front bolt fix the Power Steering Pump and dialyze all the other two bolts. Remove the crankshaft balancer, the camshaft position sensors, and take out the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves from the front cover. While removing the front cover, it is also necessary to remove 22 m8 bolts and 3 optional m12 bolts, before separation from the engine block can take place. Use the engine cover at the front of the Water Pump, remove and disassemble as required without using scrapers that are sharp or made of metal to clean the sealing surfaces. Clean the sealing surfaces carefully and tuck a piece of cardboard between the Oil Pan front and the Oil Pump in order to stop the contaminants falling into the Oil Pan. The use of compressed air will help remove engine coolant found in the engine cooling passages and the top of the Oil Pan scraper. For installation, install the engine front cover if required with the help of the en 46109. Replace the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves, camshaft position sensors, the crankshaft balancer, the Power Steering Pump, the Power Steering Pump pulley, and the power steering fluid reservoir. After that, reinstall the generator bracket with the generator and belt tensioner, a/c compressor and power steering belt tensioner and the accessory belts. Lastly, install the water outlet, reconnect purge vent hose, fill cooling system and install the camshaft covers, upper Intake Manifold and the lower Intake Manifold and the engine cover with the cooling system filled.
