2004 Chevrolet Aveo Air Bag Clockspring Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the Steering Wheel on 2004 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The replacement process of the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil starts with the removal of the negative Battery Cable. First separate driver air bag module from the Steering Wheel before extracting screws from both upper and lower Steering Column covers to remove those covers. Remove the driver side knee bolster or instrument panel lower cover and disconnect the driver air bag Horn and connectors from the lower Steering Column before discarding screws. Take the air bag clock spring component off the Steering Shaft. Position the air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft before screw installation using 3 n.m (27 lb in) torque. Connect the driver air bag components and Horn and connectors to the Steering Column before putting back the driver side knee bolster or panel lower cover followed by upper and lower Steering Column covers with their appropriate screws. The process ends with the driver air bag module installation and then connecting the negative Battery Cable.
