How to Remove and Replace the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly on Chevrolet Aveo?

Begin air bag clock spring assembly / spiral cable replacement by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. First remove the Steering Wheel before unscrewing the upper and lower steering column covers to take away their components. Start by disconnecting the driver air bag and horn connectors from their positions at the lower steering column then take out the driver side knee bolster or instrument panel lower cover. Cut off the screws and pull the air bag clock spring out from the Steering Shaft. Position the new air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft before hand-tightening new screws to 1.25 nm (11 lb in). Reposition the new air bag clock spring to the center and reconnect the driver air bag and horn connectors at the lower steering column. Put in place first the driver side knee bolster followed by the instrument panel lower cover after which the upper and lower steering column covers including their screws need to be put on. Completion of the repair requires directions to replace the Steering Wheel followed by the reconnection of the negative Battery Cable.
