The first process for both air bag clock spring assembly replacement and inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module coil swap involves disconnecting the vehicle's negative Battery Cable. The installation process starts by removing the Steering Wheel followed by unscrewing both upper and lower steering column covers before removing them. On the lower steering column, remove both components at the drive side knee bolster or instrument panel lower cover and disconnect the driver air bag and horn connectors. After removing the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft separate the screws. Drop the new air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft before securing it using fresh screws that require a torque of 1.25 n.m (11 lb in). Center the air bag clock spring before reconnecting both the driver air bag connector and horn connector to the lower steering column. Start by reinstalling the driver side knee bolster or instrument panel lower cover before installing upper and lower steering column covers with their screws. Reposition your new Steering Wheel into place then reconnect the negative battery terminal.
