2005 Chevrolet Aveo Air Bag Clockspring Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring on 2005 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Begin replacing the influable restraint Steering Wheel module coil by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable but wait one minute before beginning work to prevent accidental air bag deployment. The first step is to take out the driver air bag module and Steering Wheel before removing screws from the upper and lower steering column covers. Next step involves removing the driver side knee bolster together with instrument panel lower cover and disconnecting the driver air bag and Horn and connectors from the lower steering column before discarding the screws. Take away the air bag clock spring part which is inside the Steering Shaft. Install the new air bag clock spring onto the Steering Shaft before using new screws to secure it to a torque of 3 n.m (27 lb in). Insert the connector between the driver air bag and the Horn and lower steering column and reinstall the driver side knee bolster or instrument panel lower cover before installing upper and lower steering column covers with their screws. The final step involves placing back the Steering Wheel followed by the driver air bag module before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
