• Q: How to replace the alternator (DOHC) on 2004 Chevrolet Aveo?

  A: To change the generator (DOHC), start by removing the negative cable battery and the electrical connection of intake air temperature (IAT) from the air intake tube. Replace the breather tube clamp and all other clamps in order to remove the air intake tube and remove the battery harness connector nut from the generator and also there is the generator shackle bracket bolt to remove. Next, unplug the serpentine accessory Drive Belt in case your vehicle has power steering and air conditioning, then nutloose generator lower bracket-to-generator and remove the generator smoothly. For installation; mount it in to the lower bracket and install the generator bolts the tight nut and washers on generator lower bracket-to-generator bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Mount the generator and lower support bracket assembly to the engine block using bolts and bolt the generator to the shackle bracket using bolt and tighten it 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Pass the harness connector to the generator back, connect the generator lead to the battery, and secure it with a nut and tighten it to 15 n.m (11- lb ft). Lastly, attach the air intake tube and connector, plug in the iat electrical connector to air intake tube, clip on the negative battery/ cable.
