2004 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the camshaft on 2004 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The first step to replace a Camshaft involves removing the Timing Belt along with engine cover bolts then the engine cover. The breather tube and crankcase ventilation tube should be detached from the valve cover along with cmp sensor connector removal from the spark plugs and ignition wires. Begin by removing the valve cover bolts before taking out both the valve cover with its attached gasket. User must exercise additional caution when extracting the Camshaft since both the lobes and bearing surfaces can harm easily during removal so maintain a secure grip on the intake Camshaft before unfastening its gear bolt and then removing the gear. For the exhaust Camshaft series the same step-by-step procedure applies by keeping it in position until the exhaust Camshaft gear bolt and exhaust Camshaft gear are removed. Perform a step-by-step removal of Camshaft cap bolts starting at their torques specified order before you remove the intake Camshaft caps and their subsequent positions for reinstallation followed by the intake Camshaft and finally the exhaust Camshaft caps and exhaust Camshaft. During the installation process first lubricate both the engine oil journal and caps before placing the intake Camshaft and its caps and finally tightening the intake Camshaft cap bolts. Put the exhaust Camshaft in position alongside its caps and apply torque on the Camshaft cap bolts with the specified sequence at 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Place the intake Camshaft gear correctly while using a wrench to tighten its bolt to 67.5 nm (49 ft. Lbs.). The gear installation process should be repeated for the exhaust Camshaft component. Position the valve cover after placing its gasket in position then place the valve cover washers and nuts while tightening them to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Reinstall the ignition wires while connecting the cmp sensor and engine cover and engine cover bolts. Secure the Spark Plug cover bolts to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.). Step by step, start by installing the Oil Filler Cap before connecting the vacuum line while adding the air breather tube to the valve cover followed by the Timing Belt reinstallation.
