2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel pressure regulator on 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: The first step to fix the Fuel Pressure Regulator requires releasing the fuel system pressure. Begin by disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator while placing a shop towel beneath it to soak spillage. First remove the retaining bolt from the Fuel Pressure Regulator before pulling it out together with any seal or seal material that has accumulated on the Fuel Rail. Before installation of the Fuel Pressure Regulator onto the Fuel Rail you must lubricate its o-ring with clean engine oil. The retaining bolt must be installed and tightened to 10 n.m before the vacuum pipe connects to both the Fuel Pressure Regulator and negative Battery Cable. Performed leak tests require the ignition to be turned on for 2 seconds while the engine remains off. After ignition is turned off for 10 seconds, a fuel leak inspection should be conducted when ignition is turned on again. The storage of the shop towel requires a proper storage container.
