2005 Chevrolet Cavalier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel pressure regulator on 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: A replacement of the Fuel Pressure Regulator begins with relieving the system pressure. You must first disconnect the vacuum pipe from the Fuel Pressure Regulator so any fuel can drip into a towel positioned underneath the connection. After removing the retaining bolt you should take out the Fuel Pressure Regulator but carefully extract all remaining seal material from around the Fuel Rail. Before installing the Fuel Pressure Regulator onto the Fuel Rail users should apply engine oil to the o-ring then attach the regulator to the rail. Place the retaining bolt then secure it tightly to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reconnect the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum pipe as well as the negative Battery Cable. Start the ignition with engine off for two seconds and wait ten seconds after shutting off ignition before restarting the ignition to detect fuel leakages. The storage container should receive the shop towel before closing.
